The Staffel’s orders are for photographic cover of the Elbe from Dresden to Stendal to establish where the Allied spearheads are, and reconnaissance of roads Mühlhausen –Nordhausen – Halle – Chemnitz as well as north and south of the Harz Mountains.
“White 3” (Me 262 A-4, W.Nr. 500097) is shot up by low-flying Allied aircraft while landing from a mission at Alt Lönnewitz. Its pilot, Ltn. Schiffke, is slightly injured and the aircraft is assessed as 10% damaged overall with bad damage to its nose section. At 21.00 hrs. the 15. Fliegerdivision reports that it is currently out of contact with 1./NAG 1 which has been transferring to Alt Lönnewitz as ordered. The unit has been told to send reports of its activity to Gen. Wilke’s (commander of 15. Fl.Div.) Advanced HQ.
Thirteen aircraft of 15. Fl.Div. attack enemy movements around the Zerbst bridgehead without observing results and without loss. While landing at Eger (now Cheb in the Czech Republic) from a transfer flight, Ofw. Peter Wilke of Stab NAG 1 is shot down and killed by American fighters and his “white 5” (Me 262 A-4, W.Nr. 111200) is completely destroyed. W.Nr. 500540 is also shot down and destroyed in this action.
The General der Aufklärungsflieger advises Einsatzstab Kurfürst 1 (i.e. Luftwaffe High Command) that he proposes to disband Stab NAG 12 and 1./NAG 1.
Hauptmann Dünkel flies a reconnaissance of the River Elbe between Wittenberg and Magdeburg, taking off at 08.12 and landing at 08.51 hrs.
A list of operational units of Luftflotte Reich at the time of the Surrender shows 1./NAG 1 at Hohn (near Rendsburg-Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein) with two Siebel Si 204.
