These are days before and during the campaign for which some of the the fullest (although still incomplete) strength returns are available. Individual units made returns on other days during the campaign and some of these data have been inserted [as indicated] to give as full a picture as possible.

6./KG 77 appears to have been renamed 6.(Bel.)/KG 26 on or about 13 August. From that date on, the former disappears from intercepted signals and the latter appears in its place.

Some II./KG 26 strength reports give two sets of numbers, e.g. 11 (6) and 12 (8) on 13 August; 15 (11) and 10 (8) the next day. This may distinguish between bomber and torpedo aircraft or between those with and without FuG 200 search radar.
